Welcome to Taiwan
September 19, 2016
We had to take a train from the airport to get to our Air BNB, which is located in Taichung, Taiwan. It took about 2 hours to get here and then we had to pay for a taxi to get from the stop to our place. The Air BNB is located in this HUGE building on the 6th floor. It’s an apartment style with a bathroom on the inside. It’s not too big but we are barley here so it’s not an issue. Everything has been running very smooth and we are so happy to be here in Taiwan. Clint just lights up seeing all of his old stomping grounds and it is very exciting. So we have finally adjusted to the time difference and are settling in quite perfectly. Clint’s friends, the Chen family, came and picked us up on Saturday and took us to the youth conference activity at the largest LDS church in Taiwan. We ate some food and I had my first real Taiwanese meal (I ate McDonald's when we first got here lol) it consisted of fried pork, tofu, rice and lots of veggies. It was interesting in my opinion but I am very picky…. Clint loved it though! Some of the more traditional food will take some adjusting for me.
After that we went and saw their son at swim class and he was so excited to see Clint after these two years! He is the cutest little 9 year old ever! After the Chens dropped us off at the train station because we went to see Clint’s best friend Jacob in a different part of the island. He let us join his friends BBQ celebration in honor of the Moon Festival in Taiwan. They cooked tons of meats and had lots of yummy breads and fruit! It was a blast! So far it has been very exciting being here in Taiwan and I can’t wait for more adventures that we have to come. It is definitely an adjustment living in the city but I have loved it so far (might I add we live next to a Nike store!) LUCKY ME.. not lucky for Clint ;) !!
There are so many fun shops and food stations every place we turn!
I will say I still get confused when I’m texting friends and family because I forget what time it is in America, so I'm sorry if i accidentally text you at 1 AM! Fun fact about the time difference though, USU online submits all of our assignments in Utah time, so we technically get an extra day to do everything! Its the best thing ever!!! But other than that everything feels pretty normal! Overall it is wonderful living in a different country with your best friend, I highly recommend traveling with your spouse! I love it!! Stay tuned for other posts here on the Island of Taiwan!
