Welcome to Hong Kong.
November 14, 2016
Now I think we were a little unprepared on the amount of people that are here. I am talking Las Vegas strip X 10! There are people everywhere you turn ALL THE TIME! Besides from running into people and getting run into all the time, this place is pretty incredible. The skyscrapers, the lights, the shopping, the food, the people that come here from all over, it is a melting pot of cultures and it is awesome. Now I apologize for keeping you waiting about Hong Kong but we have been go go go since we got here that I have had no time! BUT I will make it up to you all now.
Our Airbnb is located in the heart of Kowloon, just a 5 mintue walk to the famous Kowloon park as well as the scenic Victoria Harbor. We are in a 21 story building directly across the street from the 31 story shopping mall! It is crazy how big the buildings are here and I find myself constantly looking up while we are walking. The public transportation rocks and we got ourselves an octopus card today ( basically a card that you can scan to use the subway, buses, buy groceries etc..) so that we will be able to use it when ever we need to go somewhere. Clint is in LOVE with getting to use his Chinese skills again but we are having a hard time adjusting to the currency difference than Thailand and Taiwan. Whenever we would see something that is $100 in Thailand or Taiwan we would think oh that's only $3, but here it is $12.50 so things are much more expensive, but still cheaper than America!
On Sunday we decided to attend an LDS church and to go to an English speaking ward. It was a little farther away than we had thought so we were only 15 minutes late but we made it there and that is something to be proud of! The ward members were very nice to us and we met the senior missionary couple that is serving here too. Well it turns out that he served in his mission here at the same time that Clints dad served here as well! He even knew him too!! SO awesome! It is crazy to see the connections that you make from across the world.
After church, we hopped back on the subway to head to the Hong Kong LDS temple. All of a sudden you see it surrounded by tons of apartments that are HUGE right next to it! It was beautiful and so cool to see. Of course it was closed on Sunday but we still got to walk around the garden and take some pictures.

Today we slept in really late, I don't blame us though because we missed a whole night of sleep when we flew here and we both got colds so we have been exhausted to say the least. I think what people don't realize is yes we are on vacation but we are more living here than just vacationing. We get groceries and do homework and laundry and all of the things that we would do back in America just in a different country. So it is not all fun and games.... but it is still really fun because we are experiencing new things together that we wouldn't if we were in America. We love the challenge though and it can definitely be one sometimes, especially when we get to a new country.
After we finally got out of our apartment we decided to get Clint a haircut since it has been awhile. We found a place online and headed there. We were in and out in 10 minutes and they did a really great job! We are super happy about our $7 hair cut! LOL Gotta love China right? After the haircut we walked over to the harbor to see the lights at night. We were too early for the lights show but we did have an awesome view of the city and we loved every second of it. I have always wanted to live in a big city. It is so different from growing up in the suburbs so this has been a fascinating change.

Well that is all for now folks! But wish us luck here in the big city with the other 7.188 million people living here!再见
