Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan
October 9, 2016
So today our adventure consisted of visiting the famous Sun Moon Lake! Clint’s friend Jacob had wanted to take us since we first arrived in Taiwan, so picked up from our apartment and we were on our way! Now the location of the lake is in the Yuchi Township, about an hour and 35 minutes away by car from where we live. There are lots of trains, buses and taxis that could take you there as well.
Once we got there, we decided to take a boat ride around the lake. It costed $200NT per person and would take you to each drop off and you could get on the next boat when you wanted/needed to.

The boat ride was so fun! We went around the entire lake and got off at all of the stops to see some awesome views and walk to the different temples. You can actually hike around the entire lake…. But why hike when you can drive? Well that’s just because I am not the biggest fan of hiking, but if you are, that’s a good route to go.
Once we were done there, we drove to the visitor center. Here they had a beautiful view of the lake along with different art galleries & exhibits to look at.

Next we went on a scenic drive around the lake so that we could reach the tall pagoda. It took us about 35 minutes until we got to the parking lot. We hopped out and started the uphill climb/walk to get to it. It was so cool because while we were walking in the jungle, you could hear all of the different birds, monkeys and animals. It was 450 meters to get to the top and the steps had nice painted reminders of how far you had to go…..which sometimes made it feel like forever!
WE MADE IT! We finally got to the top! It was so gorgeous and we got to see the whole lake! Talk about a view! Lucky for us, visiting hours had just ended for the day so no one was up there! We got to hit this huge drum and took some pictures around the pagoda. It was definitely worth the hike!

After our adventures at the lake, we drove back to Taichung and ended it with some dinner. While on the drive back, Jacob turned to Clint and said “I know where to take your wife to dinner, she will love it. “ We arrived at this place called BeMos. It had every type of specialty wrap, salad, nachos that you could ask for! I of course got the Mexican one because you can’t pass up Mexican food! I definitely recommend this place. 10/10! Thank you Jacob!
