Familiar faces in Taiwan

Last night, we headed back up to Taichung area and rented an Airbnb for two nights. We enjoyed catching up on some much needed sleep (the bus ride was 2 hours) and than headed down to one of our favorite night markets. We enjoyed some delicious mango smoothies, egg crepes & chicken pies (basically flattened deep fried chicken) SO YUM! We than explored more of the market and went to the park! All in all it was a very great first day in Taichung.
The night morning we started our day BRIGHT and early. I'm talking 6 AM! We got up and hopped on a bus to take us to Nantou, one of the areas where Clint served. We surprised everyone at church and enjoyed seeing everyone and for me, meeting them for the first time. The primary program was today and man it made me cry the whole time. The kids had the sweetest testimonies and their voices were amazing. I could feel the spirit the whole time and the water works were going strong! Everyone was so sweet to us and we felt like so loved because everyone was coming up and wanted to talk to us! It was so sweet.

After church was over, Brother Zeng invited us over to have some lunch at his house. His wife cooked up some noodles with veggies and they served fresh fruit. The fruit was very delicious and I had never tried it before so that was fun! After we were done eating, they decided to take us to the Chung Tai Chen Monastery. Here we got to learn more about the Buddhist religion and see where the monk students lived. It was very cool and of course they had gorgeous statues that we were in awe of. We tried to sneak into a tour group and we got in trouble, it was super funny! Little did we know that people had to be on a waiting list 3 days before…oops!
After we walked around the monastery, we crossed the street to walk up the hill to see more statues. There they had hundreds of mini Buddha’s lining the surrounding of the hill. It looked like they went on for miles and miles! There is was so much gorgeous details and architecture that go into creating their statues. I love just soaking all of it in because you don’t see those in Utah!
Once we were done walking around, we went to dinner at Sister Zuh house. The missionaries were there as well so it was fun to talk with them as well as Sister Zuh and her son. They were very nice and hospitable to us. She served some yummy curry with fresh melons. After we had dinner, we headed back on a bus to our Airbnb. It was a lot of driving and traveling today, but it was worth it to see the members and see more of where Clint served his LDS mission.
Thanks for following along. We are getting so sad that our time here is almost done, but we are living up every second! XOXO
