A two day stay in Taipei.
December 9, 2016
Hello everyone! As you all know by now we have left Hong Kong and we are back in Taiwan! We decided that we wanted to spend the remaining weeks here in Asia with Clints members and friends from his mission! Luckily all of our final tests are on Sunday and then we will be ready to celebrate no responsibilities!! It will be so nice to not have any homework or tests! I can't wait!
So back to us arriving in Taiwan, we flew from Hong Kong on Hong Kong airlines and I have to take a second to give them a much needed SHOUT OUT! I'm not going to lie, they were probably the best airline we have flown this whole time and trust me we have taken a lot of flights. The staff was so nice, the seats were amazing and comfortable and they even had the TVs on the back of the chairs with NEW movies! I'm talking not even on Netflix new. It was awesome. We enjoyed watching a movie and they served us delicious pork buns. We were sad when we had to get off the plane because it was so nice. 10/10!
Once we landed in Taiwan, we had to wait a couple of hours to check into our Airbnb so we just chilled at the airport and FaceTimed people. I had a pretty funny older lady try to tell me that I'm really tall in Chinese when I was going to the bathroom and I said thank you in Chinese. So than she thought I spoke Chinese and went off on talking and I just said to her "我中文不太好" which means my Chinese isn't good! But she understood and I was so proud of myself for being able to communicate on my own! Woop woop I'm learning Chinese!;)
When we could check into our Airbnb, the nice host met us at the subway and walked with us to the place. It is in the perfect location in Taipei and we will be staying here for two days to enjoy some of the sights up north! Our place is so cute and has these beautiful large windows (which isn't that good in the morning) lol but they make for a nice view! Here is the link to the place we stayed at! And if you want to get $35 off your stay use the code " MGARDNER320".

Since we were really tired we took a good five hour nap and then we ventured to a night market. We walked around for about an hour or so and found a yummy Mexican food place to eat. It's called Nala and we got burritos! Soooo good! Once we were done exploring we stopped by the LDS temple to see if we could find any of the missions and there were a ton there! It was so fun to talk to them and learn more about the temple there. This funny older lady offered us some Chinese cookies.... Which were very weird tasting haha and she insisted on giving me a used shirt to keep for my Christmas present. Seriously so funny! I love Taiwanese people!
Day 2:
We woke up pretty early because like I said the windows are huge so it got bright in the morning! But then it forced up to get up and start adventuring. We started our day visiting the Chiang Kai Shek memorial hall. There was two reasons we wanted to visit this. 1. Because it's an amazing memorial with huge temples and shows a lot of Taiwanese history. 2. Our favorite TV show " fresh off the boat" filmed an episode there so of course we had to go! It totally lived up to the expectations and was gorgeous. We loved it. You can watch the commercial for the show here.

After we were done there we walked the couple of blocks to the LDS temple. There we talked with some missionaries and bought Clint a tie with Chinese letters! It's so sick! Now I have a friend who is serving here so we asked the missionaries what area she is in and we decided to try and find her haha basically we were going on a wild goose chase because all we knew was where the church was and that's about it. We walked to the church and no one was there. So we decided to wait around for awhile to see if any members or missionaries showed up there. Well still no luck. After a couple hours we decided to head back home. We were about to enter the train station when Clint turned to me and said "THERES THE SISTER MISSIONARIES!!" They were on their bikes at the stop light but heading the opposite way as us! I turned to him and yelled RUN!!!! We booked it to the next light but before we could get there it turned green and three buses were in from of us so we couldn't see which way they turned. We were so sad! We couldn't believe we actually saw them!! So close but so far away! We walked back to the church just in case they decided to go back there but no luck. I wish I could say that we ended up finding her but we didn't! It's alright though because at least I got to see her from a distance.
Later that day we walked back to our Airbnb and on our way we saw a movie being filmed! Of course we had to stop and take some pictures and we still have no idea what the movie is but hey it is still cool! After that we enjoyed some yummy Taiwanese dinner which Clint has been DYING for! He had been craving it since we left Taiwan the first time so of course we had to get it. Overall it was a very fun stay in Taipei the past couple of days. We head down to the southern part where Clint served tomorrow! I will keep you updated on our new place that we are staying down there.
So that is all for today folks! Thanks again for following along and enjoy your weekend! XOXO
