A famous Hong Kong temple
November 18, 2016
Well if you have been following the blog for a while, you would know by now that every place we visit we always find cool temples to explore. We love the culture and stories that we learn when we visit, as well as the colorful architecture *cue all the heart eyes emojis* So today we decided to go to the Wong Tai Sin Temple. A little background is it was first established in 1921 and is one of the most famous temples in Hong Kong. The temple is named after Wong Chuping who achieved enlightenment and became immortal after following Taosim for forty years. People go to the temple to get their fortune told and worship. They light worship sticks, kneel before the main alter, make a wish and shake a bamboo cylinder containing fortune sticks until one falls out. We really loved seeing people worship and enjoyed the temple atmosphere. There were lots of little temples around the main one that we walked to and took pictures of. The statues were beautiful and they all told different stories. I highly recommend visiting this place if you are ever in Hong Kong.
Overall ( no pun intended) today was a blast exploring some of the Chinese culture! We are loving this city and all that it has to offer! XOXO
